About

Hello! My name is Colin Tran, and I made this website to showcase some of my past projects.

Education

I graduated from the University of Toronto's Civil Engineering program with Honours, in 2021. I also completed a minor in Engineering Business. In my later years at UofT, my education focused on water resources engineering, building sciences, and studies in sustainability.

Below are some of my favourite courses I had the pleasure of taking while at UofT:

  • Water Resources Engineering
  • Introduction to Data Science
  • Sustainable Buildings
  • Infrastructure: Sustainable Cities

I am now pursuing an Advanced Diploma at the British Columbia Institute of Technology to further my career in GIS. So far it has been quite the journey, having moved across the country, and I'm excited for what's next!

Military Service

In 2017, I joined the Canadian Army Reserve as a member of 32 Combat Engineer Regiment, located in Toronto, Ontario. After completing basic training in the summer of 2017, I continued my service while completing my Civil Engineering degree. Today, I am a qualified Combat Engineer and Reserve Geomatics Technician.

As a combat engineer, my responsibilities include construction tasks, explosive demolitions, bridge building, assault boat handling, counter-mine warfare, and more.

As a geomatics technician, I mainly create hardcopy maps and displays using ESRI's ArcGIS software suite. I have also become accustomed to using ArcGIS Online for creating and maintaining webmaps and dashboards.
